the womans porch

i've been in far to many man caves than i care to admit. maybe i'm "one of the guys" but i swear i'm still girly and cute! so if dudes get a cave, i vote for women getting a gorgeous plush relaxing porch. some examples below. you in?

p.s. we actually get the whole house! ;-)

it's what's on the inside that matters

Julia Edelmann of design firm Buckingham Interiors showcases her unique collection and design aesthetic in this Chicago showroom. How cool is this space? One-of-a-kind wall art displaying framed swimsuits, maps, and drawings are the perfect compliment to high ceilings, exposed brick, and eclectic furniture. Hope you find inspiration here. :-)

aloha island tour

Getting off the plane in Hawaii is reminiscent of when you found out Santa was bogus.  At your arrival the pretty hula girls ready to dress you in leis are absent and a tropical music soundtrack to greet you is missing, even if you are flying first class.  But then you realize that regardless of the existence of that jolly fatty who somehow made it down your chimney, you’re still getting amazing presents. In this case, I was still in a tropical paradise.
This post is intended to offer a little interior design inspiration, highlighting my friend’s homes in Waikiki, the North Shore for a (the-photographer-is-obsessed-with-my-bum) photo shoot, and Maui.  The architecture is very cool and the interior is outfitted primarily in Kreiss furniture. I know this because prior to jetting to the islands we dined at the Kreiss family home in La Jolla and the décor in both places was strikingly similar. I just put two and two together. I'm really smart like that ;-)

First up Waikiki, Oahu.

Now off the the North Shore (Oahu) for a some photos...

now off to maui... this house was the best! although, my pics don't do justice!

emma at home

Emma Gardner started her career as an editor and illustrator before showcasing her creativity in rug designs in 2002. Since then, she has gained fame in the genre for her vibrant and unique designs.  The label Chandra Rugs offered a collection of Emma’s work, which includes not only rugs, but home furnishings, accessories, and artwork. The collection is fresh, bold, contemporary and happy. My favorites are the geometric floral pillows and beautiful matryoshka-inspired wall art. The matryoshka mug shot is so clever and cute. Enjoy!
